The Crucial Elements of the Bible—Christ, the Spirit, life and the church

The Kernel of the Bible

The Bible is like a nut. There is both the shell without and the kernel within. It is this inner kernel that is the nourishing component that gives spirit and life to the reader.

What is this kernel of the Bible? It is composed of four crucial elements—Christ, the Spirit, life and the church. Without these four elements, any development of the Bible will merely be an empty shell. So in this post, we’ll focus on these four crucial elements in order enter into the kernel of Bible.

For the Lord to have the way to advance for His recovery on earth today there is the need for us to focus on, enjoy, and minister this kernel in all of our teaching and preaching of the Bible.

This corresponds closely to what I said in a previous post on reading for the central line of the Bible.

Seeing Clearly the Four Crucial Elements—Christ, the Spirit, life and the Church

Christ is our Redeemer and Savior who through His death and resurrection has become the life-giving Spirit to be our life (1 Cor. 15:45; Col. 3:4).

The Spirit is consummation of the Triune God entering into us to be our reality (John 7:391 John 5:6).

Life is the issue of having such a consummated Spirit in us (Rom. 8:11; John 6:63).

The church is a group of people with this Triune God, having His life (Eph. 1:22-23).

The Solid Issue of Presenting this Kernel

Over many years, experience has confirmed that when this kernel of the Bible was faithfully presented, the issue was that those who responded became solid in the truth, remained, and became useful to the Lord’s interest. However, when a shallow gospel was presented, although a number were saved, many disappeared or just remained empty.

May we all be deeply impressed with the importance of focusing on this kernel of the Bible and make it the essence of our living and the content of our service in teaching and preaching God’s Word.

“Lord, make this life-giving kernel of the Bible absolutely clear to us so that we would never be distracted by minor things that do not reach Your goal. May these four crucial elements–Christ, the Spirit, life and the church become our focus, the essence of all our living and the content of all our service.”

  1. Amen, brother, we need to focus not on marginal things or doctrines in the Bible but on the Kernel of the Bible! These matters make us one and build us up in the Body of Christ. For this, we need to be constituted with the truth – spend time every day to get into the truth and digest the Word of God!
