How Precious is the Blood of Jesus Christ to You?
How precious is the blood of Jesus to you? Do you share God’s valuation of it? Do you sense your need for His blood and use it in a daily way?
If you’re a believer seeking to go on in your Christian life, sharing God’s valuation of the blood of Jesus is essential.
In The Normal Christian Life, Watchman Nee said,
If I want to understand the value of the Blood I must accept God’s valuation of it, and if I do not know something of the value set upon the Blood by God I shall never know what its value is for me. It is only as the estimate that God puts upon the Blood of Christ is made known to me by His Holy Spirit that I come into the good of it myself and find how precious indeed the Blood is to me. (p. 7)
In 1 Peter 1:18-19, we can see that Peter shared God’s valuation of the blood of Christ. There he said,
“Knowing…that you were redeemed… with precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, the blood of Christ.”
To Peter, Christ’s blood shed on the cross was supremely precious and fully effective. But do we share this same valuation?
Let’s consider ten points concerning the precious blood of Jesus that reveal God’s valuation of it from His Word.
10 precious points concerning the blood of Jesus Christ
1. Shed for the forgiveness of our sins—Matt. 26:28:
“For this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.“
God required the shedding of the precious blood of Jesus in order to satisfy His righteous requirements so that He might forgive us of our sins.
Based on the God’s word, we can boldly tell God, “Since Jesus already shed His blood for my sins, You are now obligated by Your righteousness to forgive me.”
2. Consummated the new covenant—Luke 22:20:
“This cup is the new covenant established in My blood, which is being poured out for you.”
The precious blood shed for our forgiveness also consummated, or enacted, the new covenant. In this covenant God gives all that He is to us for our enjoyment. This new covenant becomes “a cup” of blessing, as a portion for us. Simply receive this portion with thanks and say, Lord, since your blood established the new covenant, I receive the cup of blessing by faith.
3. Accomplished an eternal redemption for us—Heb. 9:12:
“…through His own blood, entered once for all into the Holy of Holies, obtaining an eternal redemption.”
The Lord Jesus shed His precious blood for us on the cross, but it was not until He brought that blood into the Holy of Holies in heaven that He obtained for us an “eternal redemption”–a redemption with eternal effectiveness, that covers the entire span of sin, including yours and mine.
4. Purchased the church for God—Acts 20:28:
“… the church of God, which He obtained through His own blood.”
How valuable the church is to God! It is so valuable that He purchased it with His own blood, that is with the precious blood of Jesus. This also indicates that Jesus is God–God incarnated to share our human blood and flesh. This blood was the supreme price God paid for the church. How precious is that blood to God?!
5. Washes us from our sins—1 John 1:7:
“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from every sin.”
In the divine fellowship, the precious blood of Jesus, God’s Son, constantly cleanses us from every sin. Whenever we sense guilt in our conscience, we simply need to confess our sin in our fellowship with the Lord, and enjoy it’s full effectiveness!
6. Purifies our conscience—Heb. 9:14:
“How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
The precious blood of Christ, purifies our conscience, the leading part of our spirit, so that our worship, our service to the living God, will be very living, free from the deadening affects of sin.
7. Sanctifies us—Heb. 13:12:
“Therefore also Jesus, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate.”
Since Jesus shed His precious blood on the cross and brought it into the Holiest of all in heaven, He is now able to sanctify us. This blood also gives us the way to come forward to Him to enjoy His sanctifying work.
8. Speaks something better for us—Heb. 12:24:
“Jesus, the Mediator of a new covenant; and to the blood of sprinkling, which speaks something better than that of Abel.”
The blood of Abel, spoke to God for vengeance, but blood of Jesus speaks to God for our redemption, forgiveness, cleansing, and reconciliation to God. Praise Him for His better-speaking blood!
9. By it we enter the Holy of Holies—Heb. 10:19:
“Having therefore, brothers, boldness for entering the Holy of Holies in the blood of Jesus.”
It is only by the precious and prevailing blood of Jesus that we can enter boldly into the Holy of Holies, to touch God’s throne of grace and receive His mercy and find His grace for our timely help.
Just apply the Lord’s precious blood whenever you come into His presence to pray. In “Two Vital Means to Effective Prayer—the Blood and the Name of Jesus,” I more fully develop this point.
10. By it we overcome Satan the accuser—Rev. 12:10-11:
“…for the accuser of our brothers has been cast down, who accuses them before our God day and night. And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb…”
Finally, the Lord’s precious blood enables us to overcome Satan, the accuser of the brothers. We need to declare the victory of the blood against the adversary, Satan, whenever we sense his accusations against us.
After hearing such a word, it is extremely helpful to pray to ask God to give you a vision of His supreme valuation of the precious blood of Jesus. You may want to pray,
“Dear heavenly Father, thank you for offering Your Son Jesus on the cross for me. Enlighten my heart to see Your supreme valuation of the blood of Jesus. Uplift my valuation of His precious blood to match Your own. Thank you that His efficacious blood is now a provision for me to apply moment by moment. Remind me of the effectiveness of His blood whenever I’m coming to Your throne in prayer and whenever I sense the accusation of Satan, the accuser. Praise you for the precious blood of Jesus! ”
If you have been helped to see God’s supreme valuation of the precious blood of Jesus, you may want to leave a comment to share your appreciation.

While we were reading The Experience of Life by Witness Lee, we came upon this point, of how precious the blood is, its power, and its assurance. Often when we are before The Lord He enlightens us of some failure, some sin, or some shortcoming before Him. We confess it, taking His blood for our cleansing. Having done so, we need to be assured that He has forgiven and we are cleansed. But sometimes later when we may be about to serve The Lord or represent Him, we are reminded of that sin, that it disqualifies us. This is the attack of the enemy, Satan, trying to stop us from doing God’s will. At that point we need to declare the Word of God, “I confessed; He has forgiven. Satan, shut your mouth! The blood of the Lamb does not fade; I have an eternal redemption and now defeat you by it.”
If we accept Satan’s lies and confess the same sin again, we are actually despising the precious blood of Christ, effectively considering it limited in time or efficacy. No! It is so powerful that one confession and repentance is good enough for all sins, from the littlest to the most serious. Don’t believe the lies of Satan that that sin was so bad that even though you have confessed you should wait some more time before “daring” to pray or come before God again. No! The Heavenly Father is waiting for you, eagerly looking for your return to Him. There is no penance you must pay, no service you must perform, no “cooling off” period before you may come before God. Don’t be foolish to “pay” for what Christ paid for already!
Hallelujah for the precious blood of Christ! He had paid the price; I have applied it already to this sin. I am washed in the blood of the Lamb. I can now come forward with boldness to the presence of God and enjoy His grace and mercy.”
Great point! To re-confess our sins is to actually despise the precious blood of Christ, effectively considering it limited in time or efficacy. May we not give the adversary, Satan, any ground, but believe the Lord’s Word, and overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb. No need to wait, simply come forward boldly by the blood of Jesus (Heb. 10:19).
Oh Lord Jesus let us live for your blood. Clean our sins. I’m very excited about this word and it brings me to read the Bible and be sanctified through the word and His blood.
Glad you are enjoying the effectiveness of our Lord’s precious blood. It is so good to realize that the blood of Jesus is not only to accomplish our eternal redemption before God (Heb. 9:12). It is also for our instant application whenever we sin and sense that our fellowship with the Lord has been interrupted (1 John 1:9, 7). This eternally effective blood purifies our conscience from dead works to serve the living God (Heb. 9:14). It also shuts the mouth of our accuser, Satan, when we declare its efficacy by faith (Rev. 12:11). SO the blood is first to satisfy God, second to cleanse us, and third to defeat the devil, Satan. Thanks for leaving a comment.
