Blogging the Pursuit of Deeper Truth and Christian Experience in the Bible

Hi, my name is Tom Smith and I’m the primary blogger at Holding to Truth in Love.  I started this blog to share the great benefit I’ve received from the Bible as the God-breathed word (2 Tim. 3:16-17).  I also want  to converse with those who are hungry to experience the reality of what they read in the Bible.

A Little About Myself

I am a lover of Jesus and of His Word.

I came from a family of seeking Christians. My earliest impressions came from the pattern of a godly mother praying with me at my bedside as a preschooler, reading the Scriptures with prayer each morning and actively engaging in Christian fellowship and service for a life-time.

My father was a hard working, godly man, a provider for our family. Though not a man of many words, he set a pattern as a lover of God and lover of men.

I’m deeply indebted to the Lord for the early roots He gave me in the Christian faith, for setting me on a life-long course of spiritual hunger and pursuit that has remained with me to this day.

It was such a pattern that led me to receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior from my earliest days and caused me to revere the Bible as the uniquely inspired Word of God.

A Life of Pursuing Christ and Sharing Christ

To me, receiving God’s eternal salvation is just the beginning, not the destination. Receiving Christ as my Savior, Redeemer and Life is the first joy of my life. But there is much more to enjoy (Rom. 5:10, 17).

Christ to me is not only the Alpha and the Omega, but every letter in between. He is becoming the story of my life. When I finish my course, I would like to know that whoever reads my story would read Christ on every page.

As with all things—sports, entertainment, politics, finance, etc.—whatever is most important to a person is what you’ll find them talking about. Since, I like to be occupied by Christ, and share Him with others, I’d like to connect with readers who really want to know the deeper things of Christ as revealed in His Word. In this blog I intend to present the complete gospel, the deeper truths and the highest standard of Christian experience that God desires for us.

As a young person, my life was deeply changed when I was introduced to  the profound writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. The writings of these two authors opened a door for me into the subjective experience of Christ, the revelation of the Body of Christ and the practice of the proper church life as I never could have imagined possible. However, to read it is one thing, but to make it the reality in your daily living is another thing.

In this blog, I’ll to converse with those who are interested in knowing the high gospel, apprehending the deeper truths in the Bible, and entering into a daily living that is simply the “normal Christian life”, a life of living Christ for the Body of Christ.
